Dead Biker Served Time in Rage Case

The man killed in a motorcycle crash Wednesday in northeast Albuquerque has been identified as Christopher Fry, who was convicted more than a decade ago for a road rage incident that left a man paralyzed.
Fry, 36, died Wednesday after he lost control of his motorcycle on Osuna near Jefferson NE. He fell under a Suzuki truck and was crushed by its rear tires, said Albuquerque police spokeswoman Nadine Hamby.
Court records show Fry was convicted in the 1996 shooting of Leroy Lujan in the neck, leaving him paralyzed from the neck down. Lujan, a construction worker, was on his way home from work on Interstate 25 when he was shot. Lujan's co-worker, who was driving, told police at the time that Lujan had turned to look at a vehicle that was tailgating them and spread his hands apart in a questioning gesture. They did not know the other drivers or antagonize them, police said at the time.
Lujan died in 2002 and police classified his death as a homicide, but Fry had already been convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Fry was sentenced in 1998 to 19 years in prison, but served nine because of good time and credit for time served. He was released from prison last year and was discharged from probation in April.
