Woman Forced Into Prostitution, Cops Say

Journal Staff Report
An 18-year-old woman has escaped from a home where she said she was forced into prostitution, police said Tuesday.
The woman was able to get away from the house in the South Valley and call police, said Albuquerque Police Department spokesman Robert Gibbs. The man she said was holding her there, known only as "T," had not been located as of late Tuesday and Gibbs said police think additional people were involved.
The alleged victim told police the man forced her into prostitution and would lock her in the closet when he left the house. She had met him online, she told police, and he flew her to Albuquerque from North Carolina on or about July 17.
Police arrested Elizabeth Gade at the home on Sandy Creek Road and Ghost Ranch SW. She faces charges of false imprisonment, kidnapping and promoting prostitution. Gade was being transported late Tuesday to the Metropolitan Detention Center, Gibbs said, where she will be held on a $50,000 bond.
Gibbs described the suspect as a black male, 6 feet tall, weighing 200 pounds with a short black crew cut and tattoos on both arms.
