Silver City Seeks More Community Comments

The Associated Press
SILVER CITY, N.M. (AP) — Silver City town councilors have tabled a proposal to outlaw certain fireworks, saying they want to hear from the community.
Silver City Mayor James Marshall says the problem isn't with fireworks on the Fourth of July — it's with fireworks in the weeks before and after the holiday.
Others say the problem is noise, not fireworks.
The tabled ordinance proposes to regulate aerial fireworks and those that are ground-audible.
It now won't be considered until after this year's Fourth of July holiday.
One firework vendor said he's ordered fireworks not only for Independence Day, but also for New Year's, and complained the proposal would allow only sparklers, smoke bombs and fountains.
