Manhunt Locks Down 3 Schools
Three South Valley schools were locked down for about three hours Tuesday afternoon, trapping many students inside long after the school day had ended.
Rio Grande High School, Ernie Pyle Middle School and Kit Carson Elementary School were all locked down, although students had already been released from Kit Carson because it was an early release day.
The lockdown stemmed from a police search for a driver who pointed a gun at an Albuquerque police officer in traffic. The driver fled when the officer tried to pull him over and he wrecked his car near Rio Grande High School.
The driver, who was eventually caught by sheriff's deputies, ran from his car, police said. The lockdown was lifted about 5 p.m. after it was determined he had left the area.

1 of 4 Suspects In Slaying Makes Bail
One of the four people charged in connection with the slaying of teacher Ellen Roth has bailed out of jail.
Bella Marie Gonzales, 26, who is charged with three counts of tampering with evidence and one count of conspiracy, posted a $30,000 cash-only bail and was released Monday afternoon from the Metropolitan Detention Center, District Attorney's Office spokesman Pat Davis said.
Gonzales' bail was lowered from $1 million Friday.
Roth's daughter-in-law Cathleen "Kit" Roth, 21, James Johnson, 23, and Christopher Donovan, 20, are each charged with an open count of murder, aggravated burglary, tampering with evidence and several other charges, according to their indictments. Each is being held on $1 million cash-only bail.
Ellen Roth, 61, was reported missing by co-workers in May.
After Cathleen Roth and the others were arrested last month, Roth told police she did not murder her mother-in-law and accused Johnson of killing her, according to a search warrant affidavit. Cathleen said she did not want to be charged with murder and that she was only responsible for buying the items needed for the killing.
Cathleen Roth later led police to Ellen Roth's body, which was buried in a shallow grave in the Jemez Mountains.
