Independent Out of 3rd District Congressional Race

Associated Press
SANTA FE — There are a couple of changes in the general election lineup for northern New Mexico's 3rd District congressional race.
The secretary of state says independent candidate Ron Simmons dropped out of the contest on Wednesday. That leaves one other independent on the ballot, Carol Miller.
Also in the running: Democrat Ben Ray Lujan and Republican Dan East.
The race also picked up a write-in candidate, Dave Starr.
Simmons says he left the race to improve the opportunity for an independent to win.
