Air Force Research Lab Chief Scientist on Board

Associated Press
KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE — The chief scientist of the directed energy directorate at the Air Force Research Laboratory is on board.
Robert Peterkin was recently named to head the facility at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque.
The chief scientist is the directorate's primary adviser on scientific and technical matters.
Peterkin began his career in 1983 with Mission Research Corp. in Albuquerque. In 1991, he joined the Air Force Research Laboratory, where he pioneered the application of high-performance computing to Air Force research in directed energy.
He left the lab to work both in government service and the private sector for several years.
He returned to Kirtland Air Force Base last year as the research lab's senior scientist for high-power microwaves.
