Anthony, N.M., Teen Convicted of Second-Degree Murder

Associated Press
LAS CRCUES — An Anthony teenager has been convicted of second-degree murder in what authorities say was the gang-related shooting death of a Gadsden High School student.
A state district court jury in Las Cruces also Wednesday convicted 18-year-old Martin Nevarez of tampering with evidence and shooting at a motor vehicle.
The Las Cruces Sun-News reports Nevarez was tried as an adult. Sentencing is scheduled for the end of next month
Police say 14-year-old Alberto Soto was killed last July 1 after a brief altercation at Nevarez's home.
