Man Donates $1 Million for Bike Paths
Associated Press
BARRE, Vt. — A bicyclist who died last month in New Mexico has left $1 million to two Vermont towns for the completion of bike paths.
Sixty-six-year-old Charles Semprebon, of Barre, died May 24 while on a cycling trip in Santa Fe.
Last week, his family meet with officials in Barre and Barre Town to tell them about the bequest he left behind.
Barre Mayor Thomas Lauzon said he's overwhelmed by Semprebon's generosity, telling the Burlington Free Press it will help the towns realize his dream of a regional bike path to be enjoyed by other bicyclists.
Born in Barre, Semprebon worked at his family's business and was known for his advocacy for fitness and cycling causes.
