Boyfriend of New Mexico Hiker Says He Searched for Her

Associated Press
Paul Harrington says he searched for his girlfriend after they became separated Tuesday while hiking in the mountains near Santa Fe, and then waited in his tent all night hoping she was OK.
The woman, Megumi Yamamoto, was rescued Tuesday night by a State Police helicopter crew after she dialed 911 from her cell phone. However, the helicopter crashed in the Sangre de Cristo mountains after picking her up, killing Yamamoto and the helicopter pilot, State Police Sgt. Andy Tingwall. Another State Police officer was seriously hurt.
Harrington told KOAT-TV on Sunday that Yamamoto, a University of New Mexico graduate student from Japan, was hiking about 100 yards behind him. He said he came to a crossroads and waited for her to catch up, but she never came.
