Clovis Man Changes Plea in Murder Case

Associated Press
CLOVIS — Just as his trial opened, a Clovis man pleaded guilty to first-degree murder Monday in the death of his mother's boyfriend and was sentenced to the maximum term of life in prison.
Albert Ramirez, 20, was accused in the July 12, 2007, death of Eladio Robledo, 29, who was shot four times with a .22-caliber gun.
District Attorney Matthew Chandler said lawyers for both sides were finishing jury selection and prepared to present opening statements.
Investigators learned Ramirez had been telling his mother, the victim's girlfriend, that he was going to kill one or both of them because they kicked him out of the house when he turned 18.
