Assistant Hatch Valley Coach Accused of Rape

The Associated Press
LAS CRUCES — A Dona Ana County grand jury has indicted Hatch Valley High School assistant football coach Shawn Bohannon on charges of rape, child abuse and molestation.
Bohannon, 35, has been on paid leave from his coaching job and as a special education teacher since he was arrested last month.
The grand jury on Thursday indicted him on 10 counts of criminal sexual penetration by a licensed school employee, two counts each of criminal sexual contact by a licensed school employee and contributing to the delinquency of a minor and one count each of false imprisonment and child abuse.
The charges involve three students at the school and cover allegations from 2003 and 2004.
Bohannon's attorney, Matt Madrid of Las Cruces, has said Bohannon never had an inappropriate relationship with a student.
Deputy District Attorney Amy Orlando said she expected Bohannon to be arraigned in state district court April 4.
