New Mexico State Historian To Lead Hispanic Center

SANTA FE — New Mexico's state historian has been chosen to lead the National Hispanic Cultural Center in Albuquerque.
Cultural Affairs Department Secretary Stuart Ashman announced the appointment of Estevan Rael-Galvez as executive director of the center on Thursday. He begins his new job on July 25.
The center includes a museum, research center, education building and library, as well as the Roy E. Disney Center for the Performing Arts. It is overseen by the state Cultural Affairs Department.
Rael-Galvez has been state historian since 2001 and holds both master's and doctorate degrees from the American Cultures Program at the University of Michigan. He was raised in northern New Mexico and southern Colorado.
