Roswell Daily Record To Get New Publisher

      ROSWELL — A veteran publishing executive has been named publisher of the Roswell Daily Record.
    Charles Fischer, 60, will succeed Dana Dryden Beck on Oct. 20. She became publisher after her husband, Daily Record publisher Cory Beck, died on Dec. 17, 2006.
    Fischer has spent more than 30 years as a newspaper executive, including as publisher of the Sedalia (Mo.) Democrat, The Jacksonville (N.C.) Daily News, The Delta Democrat in Greenville, Miss., and Greenhow Newspapers in Hornell, N.Y. He worked with 13 publications in New York, six in North Carolina and nine in Missouri and was general manager of a publication in Panama City, Fla.
    The Clovis native attended New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell and graduated from Clovis High School. He also is a 1971 graduate of Eastern New Mexico University in Portales.
    "I look forward to the wonderful opportunity of fostering a great newspaper that will be at least equal to, if not better than, any other newspaper in cities of similar size," Fischer said.
