Former Alamogordo Coach Sentenced

Associated Press
ALAMOGORDO — A former Alamogordo High School coach who pleaded guilty to criminal sexual contact of a minor has been sentenced to a year in prison.
State District Judges James Waylon Counts on Friday sentenced Duriel Martin, who also will be required to register as a sex offender.
Martin was accused of entering the home of a 17-year-old Alamogordo High School student through an unlocked window early Sept. 21, 2006, and forcibly touching her.
Martin was arrested six days later and was indicted by a grand jury last Oct. 24. He entered his plea last July 23.
School officials have said Martin was a part-time junior varsity boys basketball coach during the 2005-2006 season.
