ENMU Sending Care Packages to U.S. Troops

Associated Press
PORTALES — Staffers at Eastern New Mexico University have not forgotten about students, alumni and relatives who are serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Last year, academic affairs executive secretary Nikki Howard sent a care package to her son in Iraq. A project followed when Renee Neely and Belinda Wall of academic services asked if the boxes could be sent for other soldiers.
Since July 2008, ENMU staffers have sent 17 boxes to the troops. The effort targets military members in Iraq or Afghanistan who are affiliated with the university — students, alumni or relatives of students or employees.
Boxes can be found on campus at Golden Library, the physical plant, the personnel department, academic affairs and the computer center. The shipping cost of $11.95 per box is being covered by administrators.
