EP Judge Charged in Federal Corruption Case Faces State Nepotism Charge

      EL PASO — An El Paso judge facing federal corruption charges now stands accused by the state of nepotism.
    State District Judge Manuel Barraza already is accused of offering to trade sex and cash for help with felony cases in his El Paso court.
    On Wednesday, an El Paso County grand jury indicted him, a local judge and a justice of the peace on misdemeanor nepotism charges. The judges are accused of hiring each other's relatives, while the justice of the peace is accused of hiring her own relative.
    If convicted, Barraza and state District Judge Regina Arditti face a maximum fine of $1,000.
