DA Files Charge Against Luna County Commissioner

Associated Press
DEMING — The district attorney's office is again alleging Luna County Commissioner Becky Allen Gilmore had unlawful interest in a public contract.
A magistrate dismissed that charge June 5 after Gilmore's attorney argued it was filed under a law not applicable to county employees.
District attorney's investigator Arnold Chavez says the charge is identical to the one dismissed, and the law under which it was filed is the same.
But the latest charge was filed in district court, bypassing magistrate court.
Gilmore's attorney says he hasn't seen the new complaint but will continue to fight the charge.
At issue is a commission fee to Gilmore's Allen Realty as a buyer's agent in the sale of property the county bought for a clinic.
