White Rock Couple Gets OK To Offer Home as Prize

Associated Press
SANTA FE — A White Rock couple has received the go-ahead to try to give their home to the winner of an essay contest.
The deputy executive director of the state Gaming Control Board, Greg Saunders, said Tuesday the board found no violation of state laws governing such contests.
Tiffany and Todd Lovell are charging a $100 fee for each 500-word essay entered in the contest.
She estimates they have received 375 essays so far.
The Lovells say the depressed housing market has caused them to try to move their 1,200-square-foot, three-bedroom, one-bathroom home through an essay contest.
The Lovells say if they receive fewer than 2,500 entries — or $250,000 — they'll cancel the contest and return the entry fees.
