LAS VEGAS, N.M. A woman charged in the death of an 83-year-old man who was dragged by a car during a mugging here has pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide.
Dolores Salazar, 19, of Albuquerque, entered the plea this month as part of an agreement with prosecutors, who dropped charges of felony murder, tampering with evidence and robbery.
A co-defendant, 24-year-old Jessica Livingston of Las Vegas, is set to go to trial in August.
Jose Apodaca died June 21, 2007 at an Albuquerque hospital, three days after being mugged. The two women were charged in his death.
According to police, the women grabbed Apodaca's wallet in his driveway and pulled him back to a car. Police say the women got into the car and drove away, but Apodaca got caught or held on to the car and was dragged several feet.
The state Office of the Medical Investigator ruled Apodaca died as a result of "blunt force injury.''
