Two Dead After High-Speed Crash Near Las Cruces

LAS CRUCES A man and his female passenger were killed after he drove faster than 100 mph on New Mexico 28 near Las Cruces on Sunday.
State police say 23-year-old Carlos Marmolejo of Vado and 21-year-old Lucero Ramirez of Mesquite died in the one-car crash about 3 a.m. Sunday.
The car left the roadway for an unknown reason and collided with two pecan trees.
State Police say it's unknown if alcohol use contributed to the crash. Investigators have requested a toxicology examination from the state Office of the Medical Examiner.
State Police say the investigation continues.
