N.M. Man Pleads Guilty in Exploitation Case

Associated Press
LAS CRUCES — A Las Cruces man has pleaded guilty in a child exploitation case that resulted from a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in 2006.
The state Attorney General's Office said Monday that James McMenamin, 67, pleaded guilty to seven counts of distribution and 13 counts of possession of child pornography.
The attorney general's Internet Crimes Against Children unit began investigating McMenamin after the tip indicated that he could be distributing child pornography from his home in Las Cruces.
Police searched his home and found a camera, two computers and a cell phone with a camera. He was then indicted on multiple child sexual exploitation charges.
Prosecutors said McMenamin faces up to 40 1/2 years in prison. A sentencing date has not been scheduled.
