Bloomfield Leasing Water Line From Nearby Aztec

Associated Press
BLOOMFIELD — Bloomfield has agreed to lease a 12-inch water line and other equipment from the nearby community of Aztec.
Bloomfield will lease the line along U.S. 550 for 20 years, paying $4,100 a month for the rights.
The line originally was built as a way for the two communities to share water in case of a shortage.
The lease goes into effect July 24.
Bloomfield will have the option of buying the line for $1 at the end of the lease.
The line will be used to supply the north end of Bloomfield, which has seen significant growth in recent years.
Bloomfield city councilors unanimously approved the lease Monday. The Aztec City Commission had approved the lease earlier this month.
