County Clerks Unhappy With Voting Machine Vendor

Associated Press
SANTA FE — Secretary of State Mary Herrera is assuring lawmakers that her office is prepared for the upcoming June primary election.
But county clerks are worried about the possible failure of memory cards in voting machines across New Mexico.
Herrera today testified before a legislative committee about the state's readiness for the busy June 3 primary. There are hotly races for Congress and the U.S. Senate.
Absentee voting begins May 6 and early voting starts May 17.
Herrera pledged that her office had worked with county clerks to adequately prepare for the election.
However, county clerks say they need extra memory cards to protect against failures during the election. The cards hold ballot information and are necessary for vote tabulators to operate.
