Pilot Hurt When Small Plane Crashes in Central N.M.

Associated Press
LOS LUNAS — A pilot was taken to an Albuquerque hospital with leg injuries this morning after his single-seat plane crashed shortly after takeoff.
State Police Lt. Gino Trujillo says the prop plane left the Mid-Valley Airport in Los Lunas headed to the Belen airport, and the pilot called 911 as he went down.
Trujillo says the pilot crash-landed in the backyard of a home near Los Lunas.
The pilot did not know the address, but told rescuers he was behind an adobe home.
Trujillo says a volunteer fire department employee found him there.
He says the pilot suffered injuries to his left leg and numerous cuts and was airlifted to University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque, about 35 miles away.
    His name was not released.
