Revenue Department Reinstates MVD Contractor

Associated Press
SANTA FE — The state has reinstated an Albuquerque-based private Motor Vehicle Department contractor that was temporarily suspended after an employee was suspected of issuing titles and registrations for stolen vehicles.
The reinstatement announced Tuesday allows New Mexico Registration Services Inc. to continue processing vehicle titles and doing registrations.
The state Taxation and Revenue Department and the Bernalillo County sheriff's office told Motor Vehicle Department officials the company and its owners are not suspected of any criminal activity.
The state tax agency says the company dismissed the employee who is under investigation.
Sheriff's investigators had searched the company's offices last month and seized computers and other equipment used for issuing vehicle titles and registrations.
