MIDDLEBURY, Vt. The search for a Middlebury College freshman who vanished Feb. 5 is back on.
About 30 searchers — some with specially-trained dogs — have resumed the search for 19-year-old Nicholas Garza, of Albuquerque, who disappeared after leaving an on-campus party and hasn't been heard from since.
Members of the Vermont State Police's search-and-rescue team, with help from the Colchester Technical Rescue Squad and New England K-9 Search and Rescue, are scouring the campus for Garza's body or clues to his disappearance.
It's the first large-scale search since Feb. 23. Town of Middlebury police spokesman Tom Scanlon says the effort is a recovery one now, not a rescue operation.
