Roswell Courthouse Evacuation Blamed on Worker's Illness

Associated Press
ROSWELL — An evacuation at the federal courthouse in Roswell has been attributed to a sudden illness that afflicted a Social Security Administration employee.
However, officials say seven other employees in the Social Security office subsequently showed signs of of nausea, vomiting and headaches.
The courthouse was evacuated for about two hours Thursday after a worker, who had a known medical condition, collapsed. Fire Chief Jim Salas said the other employees then became ill.
The building will remain empty until Monday.
Meanwhile, Social Security Administration offices in Hobbs, Clovis and Carlsbad were working together to serve clients who had appointments in Roswell on Thursday or Friday.
