N.M. State Forestry Offering Seedlings

Associated Press
SANTA FE — The state Forestry Division still has thousands of tree and shrub seedlings for sale to New Mexico landowners who have at least an acre.
The seedling conservation program requires property owners to use the trees for conservation purposes ranging from erosion control and wildlife habitat to establishing windbreaks or putting in a Christmas tree plantation.
Forestry officials said more than 40 different tree and shrub species are available, but some are selling out quickly.
More than 62,141 trees have been sold since December. As of this week, about 72,500 seedlings were still available through www.nmforestry.com and mail-in orders.
Seedlings are available as bare root plants, in small containers of year-old plants and as larger containers of two-year-old plants.
