Six Las Cruces Men Indicted for Murder
Associated Press
LAS CRUCES A Dona Ana County grand jury has indicted six Las Cruces men on murder charges stemming from the fatal shooting of 30-year-old Mesilla Park man.
Steven Apodaca was shot once in the torso Nov. 17 at his mobile home and died before he could be airlifted to a hospital.
Indicted are 30-year-old Oswaldo Corral, 20-year-old Lawrence Chavira, 20-year-old Ernesto Pena, 34-year-old Jimmy Ray Martinez, 28-year-old Gabriel Sanchez and Eric Ontiveros, 35.
Each man has been indicted for first-degree murder, armed robbery and other charges.
Court records say the six men allegedly fatally shot Apodaca in his home and then stole items from him.
Martinez, Ontiveros and Sanchez were arrested days after the murder. Pena later turned himself in to the Dona Ana County Sheriff's Department.
