Former DA Named Judge in Albuquerque District Court

Associated Press
Former District Attorney Bob Schwartz is now Judge Schwartz.
Gov. Bill Richardson today appointed Schwartz as a criminal division judge in the Albuquerque-based 2nd Judicial District.
Schwartz served two terms as the district's chief prosecutor and spent 20 years with the district attorney's office.
He was Richardson's crime adviser from December 2002 to December 2005, and has been chief prosecutor at the state Department of Regulations and Licensing since May 2006.
The appointment will be in effect until this year's general election.
Richardson says Schwartz's extensive criminal law background will serve Bernalillo County well.
