Lovington Commissioner Survives Recall

Associated Press
LOVINGTON — Voters in Lovington have rejected an effort to recall city Commissioner Neil Granath.
The recall failed by a vote of 122-107, according to an unofficial tally of Tuesday's balloting.
"I'm going to continue on the same path I've already started down and continue to hold city officials accountable," he said.
Granath has said he suspects some Lovington residents were not happy about him requesting an evaluation process for the city manager.
He also has said he thinks he ruffled feathers when he proposed writing a new contract for the city manager and changing a city ordinance to match state law on making the city manager an at-will employee.
Granath was elected to the commission in March 2006.
Voters are due back at the polls Nov. 20 for a recall election for Commissioner Troy Harris and Mayor Dixie Drummond.
