Two Killed in Farmington Trailer Fire

Associated Press
FARMINGTON — A Farmington man and woman have been killed and 9-year-old girl was left in critical condition in a trailer home fire officials believe was likely caused by an overloaded circuit.
Farmington Fire Department Battalion Chief Nick Mrzlak identified the dead as 29-year-old Paul Smith and 33-year-old April Lobato.
The name of the child was not released. Mrzlak said she was in critical condition at an Albuquerque hospital.
Firefighters found the trailer engulfed in flames when they arrived just after 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Mrzlak said investigators believe the blaze likely was due to an overloaded circuit and a light-duty extension cord that handled multiple plugs in a bedroom.
He said no smoke detectors have been found in the debris.
