N.M. Agency Issues Final Draft of Tribal Plan

Associated Press
SANTA FE — The state Environment Department has issued the final draft of a plan that spells out how the agency will work with New Mexico's 22 American Indian tribes.
The tribal consultation plan was released Wednesday during the department's annual tribal environmental summit at Santa Clara Pueblo. The department says it will review comments from the tribes before making the plan final.
Environment Secretary Ron Curry says the agency respects tribal sovereignty and appreciates the opportunity to work with the tribes.
The plan calls for the department to consult with tribal governments on policy and permitting actions that may have impacts on tribal environmental resources.
