Gallup Police Arrest Man in Uncle's Death

GALLUP Gallup police have arrested a man in the death of his uncle, who was one of nine people charged in allegations of Medicaid misuse in McKinley County.
Deputy Police Chief John Allen said Emerson Smith was arrested Wednesday in the death of Bronson Smith.
Emerson Smith appeared Thursday before McKinley County Magistrate Henrietta Soland and pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder. Bond was set at $50,000.
The body of 33-year-old Bronson Smith was found in a drainage structure Oct. 25 in Gallup.
Bronson Smith had been charged in a criminal complaint with five counts of accessory to fraud in a case involving allegations of misuse of nearly $400,000 in Medicaid travel funds.
