Los Alamos Council To Weigh in on Valles Caldera

Associated Press
LOS ALAMOS — Los Alamos Councilor Nona Bowman says people are upset by a lack of access to the Valles Caldera National Preserve in northern New Mexico.
She said people want to be able to go to the preserve without having to make reservations far in advance.
Bowman said the preserve isn't treating the taxpaying public fairly.
Some want the National Park Service or U.S. Forest Service to run the preserve, which opened to the public in 2002.
Los Alamos held public meetings this month over the preserve's management in advance of considering a resolution on the preserve April 6.
The nine-member trust that manages the area emphasizes its range of attractions, including hunting, fishing, horseback riding, hiking, biking, tours, long-distance running, winter sports and special events.
