New Mexico Offers New License Plate To Support Veterans

Associated Press

SANTA FE — New Mexicans who want to support U.S. troops and help the state's veterans can buy a new license plate — a Patriot Plate — starting Monday.
The Department of Veterans Services said the license plate has a design of an American flag, an eagle and the message, "Support Our Troops.''
The new plate will be available Monday, Patriot Day and the anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.
The plate costs $25, but $8 from the fee will go to the department's outreach program to help veterans and their families receive federal benefits.
"There isn't a family in this state that doesn't have an uncle, grandfather, sister or brother who hasn't served in the military,'' said John Garcia, New Mexico's secretary for veterans services.
Applications for the plate are available at the Motor Vehicle Division or the Department of Veterans Services.
