UNM Researcher Says Some Women Could Benefit from Viagra

Associated Press
CHICAGO — Viagra's effect in women has been disappointing, but a new small study finds those on antidepressants might benefit from taking the little blue pills.
The research involving 98 premenopausal women found Viagra helped with orgasm.
But the benefits did not extend to other aspects of sex such as desire.
So says a report by researchers in yesterday's Journal of the American Medical Association.
The lead author is Dr. George Nurnberg, who is a psychiatrist at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine.
He says an earlier study in men taking antidepressants found more pronounced sexual benefits with Viagra than the benefits found for women.
But Nurnberg says the message for men and women who need antidepressants is that Viagra might help them stay on the drugs.
