Visits Up at Elephant Butte Lake for the Fourth

      TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES — Elephant Butte Lake State Park drew more visitors during this Fourth of July weekend than last year's Independence Day holiday.
    New Mexico State Parks Division spokeswoman Marti Niman says 111,571 people visited the park an increase of about 20,000.
    She says high gasoline prices and high water levels in the lake might be responsible for the increase.
    The lake typically attracts residents from Albuquerque, Las Cruces and El Paso.
