Alamogordo-Area Water System Gets Grant

Associated Press
ALAMOGORDO — Loan and grant money will be used to improve a rural water system that has 25 customers south of Alamogordo.
Rural Development State Director Terry Brunner was presenting the $331,626 in funds Thursday.
The agency said the money will be used to build a new 14,000-gallon water tank and 6-inch water lines and rehabilitate the existing well and other equipment.
Agency officials said the improvements also will mean greater water flow for fire protection.
The funds come through Rural Development's water and environmental programs, which target rural communities with serious problems in the quality, quantity and dependability of their drinking water.
