Spaceport Ready To Build Welcome Center

Associated Press
TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES — The New Mexico spaceport board of directors has voted to build a welcome center after leasing an old fire station in Truth or Consequences.
Spaceport director Steve Landeene says there is a $500,000 budget for the project. He says the site will play a big role in a revitalization effort for the town.
Spaceport America is under construction in the Sierra County desert about 35 miles from Truth or Consequences. A 10,000-foot runway is expected to be completed next summer and a terminal hangar facility should be finished by early 2011.
Another welcome center is planned for Hatch.
