Caller Says Bomb Placed in Congressman's Office

Journal Staff Report
New Mexico State Police said they placed a bomb squad on standby Saturday after a telephone message recorded at U.S. Rep. Ben Ray Luján's Washington, D.C., office said there was a bomb in one of the congressman's New Mexico offices.
State Police and local law enforcement officials found nothing "out of the ordinary" at any of Luján's offices after a search, State Police Lt. Eric Garcia said.
"We have bomb threats in Santa Fe and office complexes for different reasons, and we take them very seriously," Garcia said. "Even though (this threat) came through Washington, we're still going to take it very seriously."
Luján has offices in Santa Fe, Rio Rancho, Tucumcari and Farmington, according to Garcia. Lujan's local staff is staying in touch with local authorities, Garcia said.
