Repair Work To Close Manhattan
Santa Fe's Manhattan Avenue at the Railyard between Market Street and Camino de la Familia will be closed for sidewalk and drainage repair through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The remainder of Manhattan Avenue will remain open. The city's parking garage, beneath the REI store in the Railyard, can be accessed via Camino de la Familia, but not Manhattan Avenue.
Pile Burning Project Begun Near Taos
Camino Real Ranger District fire managers in the Carson National Forest have begun ignition on the 100-acre North Shady Brook slash pile burning project.
Recent snow has provided the proper conditions for pile burning and are expected to last for the next three days.
These piles were left from a three-year thinning project accomplished through a Community Forest Restoration Project grant completed in summer 2006.
The project is 10 miles east of Taos off N.M. 64 within the community of Taos Canyon and two miles west of the entrance to Forest Road 437 near Valle Escondido.
Smoke will be visible from Taos, Taos Canyon and Valle Escondido.

Input on Eagle Nest Park Plan Sought
A public meeting and open house will be at 6-8 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Eagle Nest Lake State Park Visitor Center to allow the public to review the park's draft management plan.
People can comment on the draft plan, which includes a history of the park, a review of park resources and facilities, and an outline of proposed management and facility improvements for the next five years.
This will be the first such plan for the park, which joined the state park system in 2004.
Proposed improvements include an expanded trail system, installation of visitor center and wayside exhibits, and campground upgrades. Copies of the plan are available at the park or at www.nmparks.com.
Written and oral comments on the plan will be accepted. Comment letters should be mailed to: P.O. Box 1147, Santa Fe, NM 87504, or faxed to 505-476-3361. The deadline is Dec. 12.
Eagle Nest Lake State Park is about 32 miles east of Taos and 65 miles southwest of Raton off U.S. 64. The 2,400-acre lake is known for its kokanee salmon and rainbow trout fishing.
