Parade and concert kick off a week of events

Journal Staff Report
The week where cowpokes and city slickers alike can gather in their freshly creased Wranglers is upon us, with the start of the Rodeo de Santa Fe.
The 60th annual event begins Saturday with a parade, beginning at 8 a.m. in downtown Santa Fe near Fort Marcy.
But the inaugural day of activities doesn't stop there, said Chris Czymrid, the rodeo's marketing director.
“This year, what we're doing different for our 60th anniversary is that we're having a concert,” he said. “In the 60 years of the rodeo, we've never had a full media partner — now we do.”
The Rodeo de Santa Fe, in conjunction with Hutton Broadcasting, will cap off the day with a performance by country music star Tracy Lawrence, at 5 p.m., on the rodeo grounds.
Seating is limited. For more information, call (505) 988-1234.
The main event runs from Wednesday through June 27. Nightly competition begins at 6:30 p.m. There is also a children's matinee on the event's final day.
General admission is $12 Wednesday and Thursday and $15 Friday and Saturday for adults, $7 and $10 for children 10 and younger or seniors 70 and older. Ticket prices go up from that for reserved seats. Parking is $5.
