Driver Fled From Two Men With Guns
An unidentified woman had to run a red light shortly after midnight Sunday to escape two men advancing with guns, according to the Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Paseo Real and N.M. 599. The victim reported being followed by two vehicles, whose drivers tried to stop her by bookending her vehicle in the front and back.
She gave only vague descriptions of the vehicles, Capt. Robert Riggs said Monday, identifying one as a white SUV and the other as a tan pickup truck.
The victim stated that two males got out of the vehicles and held guns as they approached her. She then drove through the red light at the intersection to get away.
Riggs said law enforcement personnel "saturated" the area and came up with nothing.
"You hear of this type of thing with parties that know each other," he said. "But that wasn't the case here."
The victim said she did not know why the men approached her.
Hunting Regs To Be Adopted at Meeting
The state Game Commission will adopt rules for upland game and migratory bird hunting for the 2008-09 season and hear an update on development of rules for the 2009-10 big-game seasons during a commission's meeting Wednesday in Las Vegas, N.M.
The commission also will consider a request to approve a lease between the commission and Lance Broadcasting to allow construction of a 113-foot radio tower on Rabbit Peak in the Edward Sargent Wildlife Area near Chama.
The tower would allow KZRM-FM to increase its coverage of the Chama Valley and adjacent areas.
The agenda also includes a presentation on the current status of core and conservation populations of fish, including Gila trout and Rio Grande cutthroat trout, with respect to federal Endangered Species Act considerations.
The meeting is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at New Mexico Highlands University's Leveo Sanchez Lecture Hall on the ground floor of the Thomas C. Donnelly Library.
