Cockfight Charges For La Cienega Man
A Santa Fe County man faces multiple charges associated with cockfighting.
Raul Trinidad-Enriquez, 26, of La Cienega, has been charged with 12 misdemeanor crimes that stem from a July 14 Santa Fe County Sheriff's search of his property.
Two dead roosters were found on the property, 14 La Cumbre Lane, as well as evidence that natural spurs had been cut off roosters so that metal spurs could be attached, Sheriff Greg Solano told the Journal earlier this month.
Solano also said at the time that hypodermic needles, which can be used to inject steroids, were also found on the property.
Several live animals also were taken from the property and are now in the custody of the county.
Trinidad-Enriquez has not been arrested and will be summoned to court on the charges.

Student Starts 3rd Year on Board
Santa Fe High School student Carson Miller, 14, is entering her third year of service on the 25-member Youth Advisory Board for the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, an organization founded by the American Heart Association and the William J. Clinton Foundation.
In her role, the Santa Fe girl has spoken at the Legislature and at health conferences, has taught EmpowerME4Life sessions to a fourth-grade class in Santa Fe, and organized and helped supervise a Recess ROCKS! event in Albuquerque that featured six interactive stations throughout the day. She also helped run an empowerME4Life training session for the staff of a local YMCA.
Carson plays competitive soccer both for her school and on a club team. She is also involved at her local temple, where she attends classes and participates in North American Federation for Temple Youth. Her efforts in promoting school nutrition have been recognized by the organization Farm to Table.
After graduating from high school, she hopes to attend Stanford University.
The 25 youths on the advisory board are leading the way in their communities as they spread the word about the importance of healthy living through the Alliance's empowerME Movement — a "by kids, for kids" initiative inspiring healthy behavior changes and leadership for healthy eating and physical activity.
