Career Ends With Honors

Journal Staff Report
Former West Las Vegas standout Vera Jo Bustos concluded her college career at Adams State with a host of honors.
This past week, the Grizzlies senior was named an NCAA Division II Bulletin Honorable Mention All-American. Earlier this month, Bustos was named as a Women's Basketball Coaches' Association Division II State Farm Coaches All-America Honorable Mention for the second time, and to the Daktronics All-Central Region First Team.
The Women's Division II Bulletin accolades are her fifth all-American accolades, as Bustos was a Division II Bulletin Honorable Mention All-American and Daktronics Women's Basketball Division II All-American Honorable in 2010.
She adds these honors to three appearances as a First Team All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, West Division Player of the Year honors for the 2008-09 season and Freshman of the Year honors.
Bustos holds Adams State scoring record, surpassing Dominique Skeehan (1,718 points) with 1,859 points.
