PNM, N.M. Gas Co. Should Plug Into PR
It's unfortunate that Public Service Company of New Mexico and New Mexico Gas Co. aren't as committed to a free flow of information as they say they are to their customers in the Land of Enchantment.
That was glaringly apparent recently when some eagle-eyed ratepayers figured out their checks were being tallied in Denver instead of Albuquerque by noticing the new P.O. box on the payment stub. No bonus pamphlet to glance at and discard announced the change.
PNM won't say if the New Mexicans who processed the payments up until August were laid off. It won't say how much the change is saving customers, just that it's “a significant amount of money in the long term.” It will say the machinery involved needed to be replaced and outsourcing was a better way to go.
Ratepayers apparently just have to trust them. A little more information would go a long way toward inspiring warm and fuzzy feelings.
