THE COST incurred from the visits to the emergency rooms by the millions of undocumented visitors to the U.S. is what screws up health care. Why not determine the origin of the visitors and just deduct it from foreign aid that the U.S. gives those countries? T.K. (Tuesday, November 17, 2009)

MY HUSBAND suffered a massive heart attack. Personnel from Fire Station 18 arrived within minutes. The care they provided was extraordinarily professional and caring. Our family is aware that the outcome could have been much different if it had not been for the fast response of Station 18, the ambulance crew and the staff at Presbyterian. Our family will be forever grateful! C.S. (Tuesday, November 10, 2009)

IT'S OBVIOUS that L.V.S. has no clue what César Chávez did and why the city chose to honor him. He will go down in American and world history as one of the great fighters for human rights. H.A.C. (Tuesday, November 03, 2009)

WHEN THE NEW mayor gets sworn into office, I hope he changes Avenida César Chávez back to Stadium. UNM Stadium is such a large landmark. Why the street it is on was ever changed is ludicrous. L.V.S (Tuesday, October 27, 2009)

I NOTED THAT New Mexico's U.S. senators who just happen to be lawyers are supporting the health care plan that does not include tort reform. B.L. (Tuesday, October 20, 2009)

UNM HAS SAID it has no interest in monitoring staff and student computers. But the Recording Industry Association of America and the Motion Picture Association of America do. Once UNM has records that show user's activities, the RIAA and MPAA can subpoena them to use in court for copyright infringement suits. The question is: What does UNM get? R.C. TO HELP reduce its carbon footprint, the city needs to reconsider how and when traffic lanes are blocked off for street repairs. On Sept. 28, morning rush-hour traffic on eastbound Central was backed up to Coors because two lanes at Atrisco were closed. The result was thousands of vehicles idling. G.A.P. HOW MUCH longer are we going to put up with lawyers pushing their own agenda on our dime?. At one time the ACLU represented Americans. Now they stand for the “rights” of foreigners and criminals. If this gang really cared about the “kids” being mistreated at CYFD, they'd invite these little criminals into their own homes. S.S.T. (Tuesday, September 22, 2009)

THOSE ARE NOT sharks circling off the coast of Cape Cod. They are Democrats looking for Teddy's job. J.J. (Tuesday, September 15, 2009)
