OF COURSE, President David Schmidly won't discover any findings of cronyism at the University of New Mexico. This investigation is like sending a fox into his own lair with other fox cronies (regents) looking over his shoulder. — R.N.   (Tuesday, July 08, 2008)

THE MAYOR'S water restrictions are only for the residents of Albuquerque. The makers of “Terminator 4” are busy pumping a million gallons of fresh water into an outdoor tank for a movie set that will be on screen for 20 minutes. I saw it myself south of the Mesa Del Sol project. Wonder if we'll get movie passes out of this? — T.I.   (Tuesday, July 01, 2008)

INSTEAD OF Albuquerque building a 12,000 seat arena to help Downtown businesses, why not get the state to build a 20,000 seat arena at the fairgrounds at the site where the Downs and Tingley Coliseum are now? Parking, easy access, lots of available land and the fair would be able to recoup some of the money they are going to lose when the Downs moves. — A.C.H.   (Tuesday, June 24, 2008)

EVEN AFTER the new Roadrunner supercomputer is installed at Los Alamos and running at a quadrillion calculations a second, it still won't be able to keep up with all of Gov. Bill Richardson's out-of-state travel. — M.I.T.   ( June 17, 2008)

THE NEW MEXICO Racing Commission with its decision to move the Downs of Albuquerque to Moriarty has basically told Albuquerque residents “we don't want our citizens to attend the races any more.” With the gas prices as high as they are, I tend to agree with them. — G.A.   (Tuesday, June 10, 2008)

COP INVOLVED in death? Get real folks! The only ending to this story will be cop not charged and allowed to retire with full benefits. When the “thin blue line” is involved, all bets are off! — J.L.S.   (Tuesday, June 03, 2008)

SO THE “Kardboard Kid” is suing because the school didn't do enough to determine if his gun was real or fake. I can just hear the Columbine principal: “Now boys, are those just pretend weapons in your car? ...” — D.D.   (Tuesday, May 27, 2008)

IS THE PATRIOT and responsible citizen — Elton John Richard — still in prison? Has his attorney requested clemency from the governor? Is anything being done about this absurd injustice? — E.A.   (Tuesday, May 20, 2008)

THERE WAS an article about airlines reducing fuel costs by reducing speed. That works for automobiles, too! —E.W.F.   (Tuesday, May 13, 2008)

THANKS TO A fellow hunter who came to my assistance in the Lincoln National Forest after I fell from a tree while hunting. The hunter — Mike, a former a nurse in Vietnam — assisted me by reviewing my injuries, loading up my truck and sending me on my way to medical help. Thanks again. — E.W.   (Tuesday, May 06, 2008)
