I DO NOT blame Clara Apodaca for incorrectly spending funds meant for projects at the Hispanic Cultural Center. I blame the Bill Richardson administration and the Legislature for the willy-nilly way in which they gave the taxpayers' money away without any oversight to see if it is being spent correctly. — S.S.   (Tuesday, April 26, 2011)

I'M SURELY not the only reader who has noticed that the Intelligence Report in Parade Magazine is no longer intelligent. They now deliver tabloid articles that belong in People Magazine. The articles used to be of an expose nature — now it's not a need to know journalism at all. — C.E.   (Tuesday, April 19, 2011)

THE U.S. GIVES $54 billion a year in foreign aid, which is all borrowed. And our representatives in D.C. are talking about nearly the same figure to cut in domestic spending. Why should the U.S. citizen be the first to suffer budget cuts? — J.B.   (Tuesday, April 12, 2011)

I RECENTLY moved back to Albuquerque. The city is as beautiful as ever, and the drivers are just as I remember. You know, where traffic laws are considered more of a suggestion than an actual enforceable law. If you're in a hurry to get to work and driving through a school zone, take a few extra seconds. That is someone's child you're driving past. — D.E.   (Tuesday, April 05, 2011)

NOTE TO Bernalillo County commissioners: Do not lend even $4.50 of taxpayer money to any business no matter (how) "tremendous" (its) "potential" appears to be. If it were that solid, bankers would be climbing over one another to get the business. — F.A.B.   (Tuesday, March 29, 2011)

EVERY TIME there's an international disaster, it's always the U.S. taxpayers to the rescue. You never hear about any of their oil money from the Arabs. Now, the Arab League wants a "no-fly" zone in Libya. Guess who is going to have to pay for that in money and possibly lives? The Arabs have their own air forces. Let them take care of it themselves. — F.P.C.   (Tuesday, March 22, 2011)

REGARDING THE article "Dem Lawmaker Not Afraid To Buck Party," House Speaker Ben Lujan said "he was disappointed Democrats didn't stick together." I am so sick of this Democrat vs. Republican rhetoric. It's tearing this country apart. — M.S.   (Tuesday, March 15, 2011)

JUST HOW much has the Albuquerque Police Department cost the city in lawsuits over the last 10 years? The city is broke. How much of this is from legal settlements against APD? The public needs to see the numbers. — D.K.   (Tuesday, March 08, 2011)

IT IS BEING argued by members of the Legislature that providing driver licenses to illegal aliens has reduced the cost of automobile insurance. I would rather pay extra for my automobile insurance than subsidize the harboring of someone who has broken the laws of my country. — J.E.H.   (Tuesday, March 01, 2011)

YOU HEAR ABOUT the government's concern over home-grown terrorists. Short of killing someone, has any group of people done more damage to the U.S. than the people we keep electing to Congress? $14 trillion and counting. After the sun burns out, our grandchildren will still owe the Chinese because of this financial mess. — T.K.   (Tuesday, February 22, 2011)
