Speak Up!

SINCE APS HAS extra cash to spend to send employees and board members to Florida, maybe it should lend some of that extra cash to APD so it can attend a clinic on how not to shoot citizens! — L.S.
DON'T SHUT down the red-light cameras. Instead install yellow lights ahead of the intersection that begin to blink a few seconds before the yellow light starts at the intersection. The posted sign is "Intersection Ahead. Slow Down." Then triple the fine for running the red light or following too close — rear-ending a car in front of you. — J.J.
SURE GLAD political candidates who appear in their own ads conclude them by assuring me that they approve what they just said. An ignorant voter like me might be confused about them things. — K.N.K.
I FIND IT laughable that corporations both here and abroad are too cowardly to man up, to stand up and proudly attach their corporate logos to their political contributions. — G.L.
EXPLORING THE mind-body connection could take the place of painful animal experiments. Many people have been healed through prayer or visualization. Hopefully someday we'll understand how our thoughts and beliefs affect our health and vivisection will become as archaic as slavery and the burning of witches at the stake. — J.C.
I FEEL REALLY good after hearing about the couple that adopted Baby. Surely, there must be a special place in heaven for those people. I know the puppy will have a lot of love and a good home. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for caring. — J.M.
REGARDING Spaceport America, is it just me or does the aerial view of the building look like a bed pan to you as well? Seems ironic that the design perhaps shows the taxpayers where the money for this project is going. — T.A.P.
THANKS TO New Mexico's brilliant leaders in Washington, under the Organ Mountains Desert Peaks Wilderness Act, 125 miles of New Mexico borders will go unprotected from gun toting, Mexican drug runners. Great job on border security senators. — R.J.S.
I DON'T understand why parents find it amusing or acceptable to bring screaming infants to coffee shops. I'd like to sit outside their house with my boom box blasting when that kid is taking a nap. — R.T.
I RECEIVED a letter from New Mexico Gas Co. touting its new automated meter reading system. It claims it will provide greater customer privacy, ensure more accurate bills and eliminate the need to estimate bills due to missed reads. What it really means is lost jobs, thereby lowering the payroll and increasing the profits. Ain't progress grand? — G.G.S.
AFTER READING that a New Mexico church-based coalition unconditionally supports illegal immigration, we should thank God that our founding fathers had the wisdom to separate church and state. — J.W.
THE LOGIC of the criminal justice system in Albuquerque: Two men charged with the murder of a swimming coach have a bond that if they pay lets them back on the street. A woman accused of thefts from hospitals is held without bond. Should it be "Albuquirky"? — C.J.
I WAS DEEPLY honored by the school bus driver who rendered a salute as I was raising the American flag Friday morning. Thank you. — J.A.
