Speak Up!
WE NEED to pay for an a new APS stadium? How do the APS administrators look themselves in the mirror without embarrassment? — J.B.
THE GOVERNOR wanted to shut down "non-essential" services during this cold snap. If the state is providing any services which are "non-essential," why aren't they just shut down permanently? — D.S.
WE ALWAYS donate to KNME during pledge week — though we detest the programs they run during that time. But never again. Buying three Hummers betrays the trust of the people who donate money and cars to the station. — C.M.T.
WE ELECT A sheriff who promotes a lieutenant whose wife coincidentally donates several thousand dollars to his campaign. Now he rents warehouse space from another campaign donor. None of this passes the smell test. We just got done with eight years of "pay-to-play" politics. Here we go again. — O.T.L.
THE PUBLIC Regulation Commission, the governor and the Legislature need to be darn sure the Gas Company of New Mexico does not pass on to consumers even one penny of what its boondoggle has cost. — D.T.
I CALLED the gas company to ask when I would have gas to heat my house. They said they couldn't give me a exact date but assured me my gas bill would be mailed on time. — J.T.
NEW MEXICO is a source of oil and gas. Why do we run out of gas when Texas can't supply us? What is our leadership doing wrong when we can't produce our own gas? — J.K.
I'M FORCED to pay taxes to the state. Movie companies spend money in hotels, restaurants, movie employee salaries, etc. New Mexico then gives back 25 percent of what movie companies spend, using my tax money to do so. I don't own a motel, nor a restaurant, and I don't work in the movie industry. So, this all benefits me, how? — F.P.C.
THE BRONZE bust of Gov. David Cargo mentioned in the Journal is by the sculptor Storm Townsend of Corrales. Her statue, "To Serve and Protect," is at the police substation at Osuna and Wyoming; "Taos Indian" is in the State Museum; "Tres Culturas del Rio Grande" is in the Sunwest Bank. — S.A.
NMSO AFTER DARK was the most fun I've had in quite awhile. Recognizing the time and effort it required, and the most generous donations of NHCC, Rondena Winery and others, I still would like to see it as not just a one-time thing, but the First Annual! — S.D.
I APPLAUD the governor and mayor for their efforts to unshackle the police and allow them to question illegals in police business. Let's take back our state and our country. Let's get to work on driver licenses only for citizens. You go governor, stop the waste, corruption and illegals. — M.K.
IN THE Walmart parking lot you were the couple too lazy to move a shopping cart and instead push(ed) it with your car into the road, thus blocking traffic as you drove off. — R.Z.
